Andrea Pirlo, the “Metronome” of Italian football.

An iconic player in Italian football, Andrea Pirlo quickly became famous for his technical skills and unrivaled talent, reflecting his own style and elegance.

By deploying an ever-sharper game, he was given the nickname of the “Metronome” or the “Architect.” In the space of ten years, his mastery gave him an exceptional aura in the world of sports. It was also rewarded with numerous trophies such as the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the 2006 World Cup.

More than just a striker, Andrea Pirlo reveals all his talent in the role of a mediator, extremely skilled,  intercepting his opponents’ passes like no other one. These technical features can be found in his passion for watchmaking. It is this blend of elegance and technicality that served as the starting point for the Andrea Pirlo project, a meticulous work that has lasted almost three years.

Artisans de Genève and Andrea Pirlo, an encounter between enthusiasts.

After acquiring many historical watches, Andrea Pirlo wanted to own a unique piece that truly reflects his personality. Artisans de Genève is committed to establishing a close relationship with each of its clients. It is precisely this vision that has tied them to the Italian player. Andrea Pirlo’s personalization had to be sporty and technical while maintaining a very chic look. During the modification process, the Italian player expressed his wishes about each technical and stylistic change. Some details of the watch refer to his career, such as the fine engraving “Il Maestro 1995-2017” on the rotor.

The personalization of the Submariner, an icon of Swiss watchmaking.

After a long process of reflection, Andrea Pirlo turned to a real jewel of the Rolex House and one of his favorite timepiece: the Submariner. Created in 1953, this exceptional watch pays tribute to the marine world. Noticed on Sean Connery’s wrist in the 1963 James Bond film, it quickly became a symbol of male elegance. The Submariner is particularly appreciated by Italians, who love its bold style and praise its technical flair.

Andrea Pirlo has decided to completely revise the 3130 movement of his timepiece, a symbol of robustness and precision. A total of 37 Swiss craftsmen were mobilized to carry out this goldsmith’s work.

During this long process, Artisans de Genève has developed a balance bridge with a talented young craftsman based in the Joux Valley. This subtle element is one of the most essential parts of the movement, as it alone holds the core of the watch. Interior angles have also been formed on all parts of the movement thanks to the beveling, a delicate technique requiring a rare dexterity that only a few watchmakers can master. Finally, a distinctive polish was carried out on the case; the corners of the horns were polished, while the case and the bands of the case middle have a satin finish. Combined with the other elements, this subtle contrast of light lends a distinctive character to Andrea Pirlo’s timepiece.
