How did you discover Artisans de Genève?

"I have followed you and got aware of Artisans de Genève about 10 or 12 years ago."‍

‍Why did you choose Artisans de Genève for your project?

"That’s why I’m working with you. At least you open up the back so that everyone can take a look at how the movement works. It’s not only the looks, but it’s also the movement. You put all the detail not only on the outside, but on the inside. Again, that’s why I’m working with you, because that’s what I like. It’s the passion, not only for the product, but everything around it. We never communicate or deal with our product. We always talk about craftsmanship, always the way it has been done."

Are you more of an enthusiast or a collector?

"My dad was actually a watchmaker master. My grandfather was also a watchmaker master. My grandfather had a jewellery shop. He was selling jewellery, watches and also repairing watches and clocks. Our house was full of clocks. Everything was ticking. My dad was a very passionate watchmaker. He had very, very defined ways of what he liked on watches and clocks and what he didn’t like. Because I collect watches, I have so many. I just switch watches every day. I have a lot, then I sell a lot, then I buy new ones, then I sell again. It’s all up and down. But there are a few that, being 53, being settled, maybe now knowing what I want, I know what I really want."

What does personalization mean to you?

"There is a real connection between my personalization and my story. That’s also something that I like about you guys, that at least you open up the back so that everyone can take a look at how the movement works and how brilliant the movement is. It’s not only the looks, but it’s also the movement. You put all the detail not only on the outside, but on the inside. That’s something that I also get from my dad."

Tell us about your creation.

"One interesting part is the winding crown. It has a red inlay, similar to my dad. My dad always did everything with readability. All the clocks that he did are very easy to read. You can read them at night because they’re fully lumed. Everything that my dad always did with clocks and watches, and that I basically inherited as an idea, is readability."

How is it different from your other watches?

"It’s the same thing that I inherited from my dad. That’s also something that resonates with what you do. My dad collected Comtoise clocks. He took off the dial so that everyone could see how the clock works, the movement, the winding of the weights and the flywheel and everything. That’s also something that I like about you guys, that at least you open up the back so that everyone can take a look at how the movement works."

A memory you’d like to share?

"Again, that’s what I love about Artisans de Genève. It’s not only that you work on the product, but you work on the whole thing. Even to write just a name on a paper, you call the best in their area. The box itself, everything is craft and it’s full of passion everywhere. That’s crazy. Again, that’s why I’m working with you, because that’s what I like. It’s the passion, not only for the product, but everything around it."
