A QUEST FOR
ABSOLUTE EXCELLENCE

In 2023, a passionate individual with highly demanding tastes approached us. He wished to personalize his timepiece around his favorite color : red. For Mr. S.J.L., no technical or time-related limits could stand in the way of creating something truly exceptional. We dedicated our full artisanal expertise to his project, designing a personalization where every detail would reflect this shared commitment. We chose one of the most precious gemstones : the ruby. Then came two major challenges: to create a bezel set with rubies of exceptional quality and to develop our first-ever red sapphire dial. This project was only made possible by the skills and teamwork of our artisans: gemologists, lapidaries, engineers, gemsetters, polishers and watchmakers.

THE PURITY
OF RED

All 36 rubies were selected for their loupe-clean clarity (no visible inclusions, even under 10x magnification). This level of clarity is extremely rare for rubies, as they almost always contain inclusions. But the challenge didn’t stop there. We aimed for flawless integration: every ruby was calibrated to the hundredth of a millimeter to ensure perfect alignment, table heights, color balance and brilliance.

SAPPHIRE DIAL

Driven by our client’s vision, we took on a completely new challenge: creating our first-ever dial in red sapphire. After two years of development, we achieved a tone that perfectly matched the rubies on the bezel.

A SKELETONIZED
MOVEMENT

Our client’s Caliber 4130 was fully skeletonized by hand in our workshops. Each component was meticulously cut, beveled and polished to reveal the movement in its purest form. The challenge: to make the mechanism’s structure lighter yet equally reliable.

Hands

Crafted in solid gold, the hands were shaped and polished to balance slenderness and legibility.

Oscillating Weight

Machined in white gold, the oscillating weight features a red enamel “X”, symbolizing eternity.

Crown

A fine line of hand-applied red enamel highlights the crown, adding a discreet final touch of red.

Creating a fully ruby-set bezel of this quality was both a technical and artistic challenge. We called upon the best gemologists, dealers and merchants around the world. Every step, from stone selection to the final setting, required absolute precision. This challenge brought together our best artisans in our craft.
