JUAN PABLO MONTOYA X ARTISANS DE GENÈVE

A human and
technical adventure

In 2016, Juan Pablo Montoya walked into our workshop with an idea that seemed nearly impossible: fully skeletonize the watch that, for him, captured his entire racing career as a driver. That moment marked the start of a bold, human, and technical adventure. In 2018, we completed our first full skeletonization. This personalization was a first for us and became a turning point for Artisans de Genève: the start of a new chapter in our craftsmanship. Today, this exceptional collaboration continues with La Montoya in rose gold.

A WORKSHOP
HUMAN SCALE

Artisans de Genève embodies the fusion between individuals and watchmaking. This is a House where ideas are exchanged and reimagined collaborative way, according to our clients’ aspirations. It is in Geneva that all of the traditional watchmaking professions are brought together in a unique place, offering a multitude of possibilities to meet the diverse needs and desires of each individual client. It is within this dedicated framework that all of the restorations, repairs and modifications that we undertake – at the request of each client – are carried out by hand.

A RETURN TO THE ORIGINS

AN ART DEDICATED
TO OTHERS

Since its inception, our workshop has worked meticulously to offer our passionate clientele the most personalised horology experience. Returning to the origins of the profession where the watchmaker dedicates himself to the individual desires of each client, according to their unique codes, tastes and personal history. It is in this way that we are reconnecting with the roots of a vocation where man, his hands and his tools are definitively bringing the clients’ desires to life.

THE GENESIS

GUARDIANS OF
MEMORIES

Creativity has been at the heart of our workshop since its inception. Our work almost always consists of bringing together the memories and moments of each individual and transcribing them into the language of watchmaking. Combining different skills and crafts to bring these often intangible moments to life through each person’s project. Combining surprising colours with often forgotten crafts to bring to life, for a moment, old techniques and skills steeped in memories.

THE POWER OF EXCHANGE

FROM PENCIL
TO REALITY

La Montoya “Rose” adventure began on paper, with sketches and a multitude of ideas inspired by our customer, which we refined together over time.

CUSTOMIZATION

CREATIVE
WATCHMAKING

Behind each customization lies the desire to stand out, to express oneself and to create a timepiece for oneself. It’s a way of creating a unique piece, according to your choices, tastes and history, by women and men who dedicate their craftsmanship to an entirely personal project.

Skeletonized movement

A first
and a
challenge

Inside the Montoya lies a serious technical feat: complete skeletonization of Caliber 4130, originally not designed for openworking. Each bridge, plate, and component was hand-decorated using a traditional jeweler’s saw. A feat of precision that took months, nine artisans, and hours per individual part. Everything had to be rethought: movement stability, shock resistance, performance.

Skeleton dial

00 | 00

color,
depth,
structure

A signature element since the first Montoya customization in 2018. Blue, yellow, red: the colors of Colombia and Montoya. Subtle yet clearly intentional. Montoya wanted a dial with structure and depth. Built across multiple levels, it combines satin-brushed and circular satin finishes with polished angles. The result is a play on depth, giving it a technical, architectural look with custom NAC anthracite tones. A dial that reflects both precision and personality.

Forged carbon bezel with rose gold ring

Raw meets
refined

Since 2018, the forged carbon bezel has been a signature element of La Montoya. For this new customization, Juan Pablo wanted to take it even further by keeping the raw carbon while adding some shine. The rose gold ring adds that light, tying it all back to the case. A subtle evolution while preserving the same character. Machined from solid material, just like the original.

Juan Pablo Montoya

This year, I turn 50. It’s been 20 years since I set the speed record at Monza. My son just got his first F2 podium finish. My story isn’t just about titles; it’s about the moments and emotions I carry with me.

THE REALIZATION

WITNESS TO
A HUMAN
ADVENTURE

From day one, this collaboration was different, built on trust, shared standards of excellence, and a passion for pushing limits. Montoya has always demanded the best, on the track and in life. He wasn’t just after an icon. He wanted his icon. A timepiece that reflects his victories, his doubts, and his comebacks.
