The project of Mr. V.A.

The Pursuit Of Lightness

In the 1970s, our client, Mr. V.A., a Franco-Italian automotive tuner, made a name for himself on European racing circuits by optimizing machines for private racing teams. His craft: improving a vehicle’s handling, responsiveness and performance by eliminating unnecessary weight and making it ever lighter.

For the customization of his timepiece with Artisans de Genève, he wished to apply that same level of rigor. The result is a timepiece weighing 66 grams, stripped down to its essentials, where every removal of material answers both a mechanical necessity and a philosophy.

The Selection Of Materials And Colors

Grade 5 Titanium®

The use of Grade 5 Titanium® was driven by one objective: reducing the watch’s weight to the absolute minimum, down to the gram.

Titalyt® Treatment

We applied a Titalyt® treatment, an electrochemical oxidation process that gives the metal a deep matte anthracite finish, while ensuring enhanced long-term durability.

Material Contrast

The rhodium-finished and yellow gold wheels create a material contrast inspired by the racing mechanics of the 1970s.

Yellow Hue

The yellow accents, echoed by the natural Rubber B® rubber strap, pays direct tribute to the vivid bodywork colors of racing cars from that era.

I spent my life chasing time down to the thousandth of a second on racing tracks. Today, I no longer endure time, I shape it. With this personalization project, I wanted to leave behind a living imprint, a trace of myself meant to endure through time.

Focus On Modifications

Down To The Gram

To reduce the original weight, the original case was reworked to integrate an external Grade 5 Titanium® structure.

A Tribute To Racing Circuits

Custom-made, it features a circular brushed anthracite finish punctuated with white and yellow indexes with green luminescence.

Skeletonized Movement

The 26-330® movement was entirely skeletonized to retain only the essential. Every opening, every angle and every component follows a precise mechanical logic, designed to further lighten the structure while revealing the original architecture of the movement.

Other Modifications

Rotor

The yellow gold rotor was skeletonized, bevelled and decorated with a circular brushed finish in order to further reduce its structure’s weight.

Hands

The rose gold hands were hand-bevelled with SLN GL C1 luminescent material to enhance readability.
