The Project
The client, a vintage watch enthusiast, entrusted us with a styling exercise that turned into a true challenge: personalizing his yellow gold Daytona® while working with only one color: a particular green he had always dreamt of. The search for colors is always an exciting quest. It appeals to the senses, materials, and our story. So naturally, he decided to name his customization: “Honey Green.”
Development
Green is difficult to grasp; a slightly different shade changes its meaning. Tinted in white, with green for a soft and fresh appearance , while the yellow tone expresses strength and vitality. Our client was looking for a particular green, somewhat dark, close to an English green, but with a slight blue touch that brings notes of elegance. This color had to blend with the materials harmoniously on every finish: from the bakelite of the insert to the sunray dial to the gold timepiece. It needed to uphold a vintage look; every detail had to pay homage to the iconic watches he cherishes so much. It was all about balance.
Colors
The Perfect Duo
Green and Yellow Gold have always symbolized timeless elegance. Colorists like to call this duo: The Perfect Match. However, it’s a combination full of contrast. The brilliance and strength of yellow gold, with the softness and poetry of majestic green. It’s a duo that does not need to be explained as it’s obvious at the first glance.
For me, green represents hope, freedom, and a certain sweetness of life. I have worn this color through every new stage of my life. I always thought that it was a color that needed to be more present in watchmaking, and I never found my ideal shade of green: a green that would have the elegance of blue while keeping its originality and intensity. As a vintage watch enthusiast, I wanted my timepiece to have this inimitable vintage style. Entrusting this project to Artisans de Genève was an obvious choice.
